xGATEWAY 3, xGATEWAY LTE & xGATEWAY PURE IoT Gateways
The first generation xGATEWAY PURE device meets the needs of many IoT deployments and supports cloud-connectivity using either a USB-connected LTE modem or available Ethernet connection.
IoT deployments requiring hardware encryption for better security, an internal LTE module or CAN Bus connectivity can utilize the xGATEWAY LTE device. To connect to 1000's of sensors over
much longer distances deploy either an xGATEWAY HaLow or next-generation xGATEWAY 3 device. Both support the cutting-edge WiFi HaLow standard (802.11ah) The xGATEWAY 3 supports both HaLow and LTE
connections at the same time.
All xGATEWAYs support IoT Gateway and IoT Edge Processing functionality including Machine Learning or ML. Google TensorFlow, Onnx, Python, Java, .NET C# and C++ are all supported.
To enable comprehensive IoT solutions, reduce IoT system engineering and hardware costs and speed up IoT system rollouts, xGATEWAYs communicate with 3rd Party sensors in addition to xTAGs.
They leverage Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-485, CAN Bus and BLE interface standards to accomplish this. Most sensor devices can communicate using one of the available xGATEWAY interfaces.
Cloud data access for legacy control hardware is an additional xGATEWAY feature. Provide legacy equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs),
Panel Controllers, drive systems or any other controlling device with an interface to the cloud and “Retrofit” IoT functionality to this equipment.
Leverage cloud reporting for planning or support remote control to facilitate easier equipment operations.
xGATEWAY PURE features include:
- Plug-n-Play connect for up to 10 xTAG BLE Sensors or 20 xTAG USB Sensors.
- RS-232/485 connect for up to 32 legacy control devices. Retrofit disconnected devices with IoT functionality to better monitor and control processes.
- C-Labs Factory-Relay software for plug-n-play connection of xTAG Sensors to the cloud-based Microsoft Azure IoT Hub. Factory-Relay details are below.

The Connectivity-Labs LLC (C-Labs) Factory-Relay is industrial Software framework for connecting OT (Operations Technology) resources such as industrial machines and devices to IT (Information Technology) services.
xGATEWAYs come pre-packaged with the Factory-Relay framework comprising their open-source C-DEngine (“seed engine”) and multiple plug-ins.
This framework provides xGATEWAYs with Microsoft Azure IoT Cloud connectivity out-of-the-box. Additionally, Factory-Relay supports secure, firewalled networking within
factory or industrial local networks when local data security is prioritized over the cloud.
The Factory-Relay on xGATEWAY includes a plug-in for xTAG Sensor communications (USB or BLE) and can be further extended to support any other industrial protocol for
comprehensive equipment connections. Factory-Relay also supports plug-ins providing IoT edge processing in any .NET language, JavaScript or Python.
What can the Factory-Relay do?
- It can provide a user-friendly web dashboard to sensors and their data
- It can send the sensor data to cloud services like Azure's IoT Hub
- It can provide local data consumers with data access via OPC Universal Access (UA).
- It can send data even if the sensor is hard-to-reach in the deep edge, buried behind multiple firewalls to services in other networks even across the globe
- It can be easily extended with Plugins
- It is secure!
